Thomas Cranmer, Archbishop of Canterbury and Martyr, 1556

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

In the midst of these difficult days, we thank the Living God for his love for us
and for the assurance of his presence with us in this world. The psalmist
lovingly reminds us that, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help
in trouble”.

During this period of unprecedented disruption to our regular church services
and shared life in our congregations, I encourage you to be prayerful for each
other, use your telephone to make calls to members of your church family and
write letters of support and encouragement.

I ask for your prayers for all those suffering as a result of the COVID-19
across the globe. Pray for the United States of America, the President and all
members of our Government, doctors and nurses, chaplains, fellow church
members and first responders.

Please also remember in your prayers the swarming locusts in East Africa, the
Middle East and Asia and famine and hunger in regions of Africa.

Most loving Father, you will us to give thanks for all things, to dread
nothing but the loss of you, and to cast all our care on the One who
cares for us. Preserve us from faithless fears and worldly anxieties and
grant that no clouds of this mortal life may hide from us the light of
that love which is immortal, and which you have manifested unto us
in your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Brenda joins me in assuring you of our love and prayers.
